ARTISTIC DIRECTOR - COUNSELOR

Ms. Rachael is an Adolescent Coach and Mentor. She works with families and students in a 1:1 capacity and is available for consulting and support inside the comfort of your own home!

She is a former public school teacher who taught 3rd, 4th and 5th graders for almost a decade!

While serving in her school community, Rachael led the “Positive Behavior Interventions and Support” PBIS Team for 5 years. This program focused on providing students with positive, specific praise to shape behavior.

After working in the Carol Stream community (CCSD93) for 9 years, she launched “Spirit Street” in 2022 and now works with students and families independently.

She graduated from Illinois State University in 2012 with a degree in Elementary Education. She studied Administration & Leadership in Education at North Central from 2018-2020.

She likes to sing, arm wrestle, make art, dance and perform in theater productions for fun!

MEGAN

CAMP COUNSELOR

Miss Megan speaks Spanish fluently and is currently a Fifth-grade dual language teacher in D300. She previously taught as a fourth-grade dual language teacher for four years!

She graduated from Western Illinois University in 2018 with a bachelors degree in Bilingual/Bicultural Education and Foreign Languages. In her free time, she loves to sing and play piano!

Megan has been a Disney Princess in a musical not once…but twice. Guess which Princesses she has played? Find out at camp!

SOPHIE

CAMP COUNSELOR

Sophie is a local actor, teaching artist, political organizer, and movement enthusiast!

With years of theater education experience under her belt, she recently left her work in ministry as director of an overnight camp to embrace a career path that is more inclusive of the queer community.

She has a BFA in Musical Theater from Webster Conservatory, she is a certified fellow with Artist Striving to End Poverty, and she is certified in Brené Brown’s Dare to Lead™️ work.

She recently co-founded the Olde School Shakespeare Collective in Chicago where she hopes to make Shakespeare a more accessible and connective experience for communities.

MONICA

CAMP COORDINATOR

Mrs. Monica studied at the University of Pittsburgh for 2 years. She received an Associates Degree in Architectural Computer Graphics and Design from Pittsburgh Technical Institute. She has been a paraprofessional in CCSD93 for nearly 19 years including math intervention, and working within the Special Education program as a 1:1 aide.

She most enjoys seeing students progress throughout the school year.

Mrs. Monica also enjoys crafting! In her spare time, she refurbishes furniture and small decor items. She makes and sells jewelry at local craft shows.

MS. LINDSEY

1:1 AIDE

Lindsey is a Mindset & Business Coach as well as a dance fitness instructor, and she also co-owns and operates The Light Lounge. She is so proud to host a camp that helps children develop emotionally & socially and is excited to be a part of the camp this year! 

She spent several years helping children develop as a professional nanny, and she is also a former nursing assistant which gave her the opportunity to spend time at Marklund Children’s Home.

She now puts her experience to use as mother to two amazing boys ages 11 and 7! (They will be joining us at camp!) 

Lindsey enjoys dancing, nightly pajama walks with her boys, event planning, crafting, good food, and Escape Rooms.

She also has two cats and a dog and can’t wait to hear about your pets at home! 

MS. ALISSA

BODY SAFETY INSTRUCTOR

Miss Alissa graduated with her Master's degree in Social Work from the University of Denver and is licensed as an LSW in the State of Illinois.

She specializes in Body Safety for youth; after spending three years working for an organization teaching different sexual assault and abuse prevention programs across schools in Illinois.

Alissa then spent two years working with abused and neglected children as an employee of the Department of Child and Family Services and is currently employed as a child and teen therapist with a focus on youth who have experienced trauma. She is passionate about understanding trauma and its effect on the brain & body and the ways embodiment can heal and free us.

Miss Alissa used to be a professional ballroom dancer and was a dance teacher for over 15 years. She has a cat named Elphaba.

Students will have a lesson from Miss Alissa on Body Safety on Friday. Spirit Street will share a newsletter with more information about this presentation and what will be covered before camp.

C2

“STAND UP & STORYTELLING” MINI CLASS

Carly “C2” Heiser graduated in 2012 from Illinois State University with a Bachelor’s in Theater Studies. She studied sketch writing at Second City Chicago and Improv at iO Chicago. C2 Coached student Improvisers from 2012-2018 at Harold L. Richards high school in Oak Lawn. C2 is a twitch streamer, writer, and can also play the ukulele!

This year C2 will teach a mini workshop in “Stand Up” Storytelling. Campers will learn how to share a short story, funny moment or tell a joke with confidence and courage! Campers will learn the features of good storytelling: an interesting hook, humor, dynamic voices, volume, expression and more! All students will participate in the mini workshop on Thursday.



BRIAN

B-STICKY

“BEATBOX” MINI CLASS

Brian has been improvising for 20 years now, falling in love with it when he was 8 years old! He has performed all over Chicago with his college team from ISU, Improv Mafia, and his professional team Part Dog Theater. He completed Second City’s Conservatory, and has performed at Second City, IO, Annoyance, and many many more! He loves nothing more than diving into a wacky imaginary world with friends and building a cool reality with teamwork!

This year B-Sticky will teach a mini workshop in '“Beatbox Basics”. Your camper will learn a few essential sound basics and practice different rhythms. We will be “saying it & spraying it”, but don’t worry we will have some hand sanitizer at the ready. Students will have fun improvising with sound and learning a new way to express themselves! All students will participate in the mini workshop on Thursday.
